Spruce Grove Grain Elevator
About this farm
Elevator tours take about 20 minutes. In 1995 Spruce Grove’s only remaining elevator was closing and scheduled for demolition. The Agricultural Society purchased it from Alberta Wheat Pool for $1.00 and the surrounding land from CN Rail for $35,000. This elevator, built in 1958, after fire had burned the previous one, is still in working condition. It is the last remaining wooden elevator west of Edmonton on Highway 16A. It quietly overlooks the hustle and bustle of a community that has expanded beyond the imagination of Spruce Grove’s founders. On August 29, 2020 the Elevator will be designated by the Province as a Historical Site, worthy of preserving into the future

My son and I had a great visit at the elevator and farmer’s market. We learned so much about the history of grain elevators and we loved the guided tour. Thank you so much for organizing this. Shout out to the young man who created the self-guided tour booklet-it was wonderfully put together
