About this farm

At Tall Timber we produce beef that tastes great without hormones or antibiotics. Our cattle graze natural pasture, between the trees in a sustainable ranching operation near Bergen, AB. What makes Tall Timber Cattle Co. beef different? - Uncultivated land naturally absorbs and stores CO2 in the soil, trees and plants. - Grazing cattle reduce fire risk and naturally fertilize the soil. - We protect the ecosystem from erosion and fecal contamination by fencing off creeks and wetlands. - Sustainable ranching provides habitat for native wildlife. Come and share our beautiful, quiet landscape and learn about raising beef. Most of our cows & young calves are out at pasture for the summer but you can visit the yearlings right here. Ask about what we feed, how many babies we have in the spring, how long they stay with us. Can you tell them apart? Where's Finnegan? He was our little bottle baby. Remember to move slowly and stay quiet - we don't like to stress the animals. Maybe you'd like to climb up into the big tractor or check out the baler and rake? It takes a lot of hay to feed the cattle all winter. Watch our young foal stretch her legs in the pasture, pet the horses - but be careful of your fingers - they can bite. Enjoy a hike through the woods, or around the pond - watch for songbirds, herons, loons, frogs, fish and snails. See how many wildflowers you can identify - lillies, violets and shooting stars. Lie down in the tall grass and listen to the rustle of the breeze. Take some photos - we might even use them on our website, (with a photo credit to you, of course). Please reserve a spot if you are interested in a trail ride around the property. We have a few quiet horses that are suitable for anyone over 8 years and under 250 lbs. Younger kids are welcome to sit on the horse while we lead them on a short ride. Stop by the meat store before you leave. Your $20.00 entrance fee gives you an instant $10.00 off what ever you buy today. Pick up smokies for supper or make a larger order to be delivered for your freezer.
